SUMMARY

The Regulatory Affairs Specialist ensures regulatory and legal compliance under the supervision of the General Counsel.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Obtains and maintains all federal and state alcoholic beverage label approvals and brand registrations, including Certificates of Label Approval (COLAs) and formulas with the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), and applies for new label approvals and brand registrations as needed
  • Manages all federal, state, and local operating permits and licenses (e.g., supplier permits, FDA food facility permits, food establishment permits, retail-by-the-drink licenses, sales representative licenses, etc.), procuring new permits and renewing, updating, or cancelling permits as necessary
  • Prepares and timely submits all state-required monthly excise tax filings or sales reports
  • Communicates with government officials as needed via phone and email regarding label approvals, brand registrations, permits, licenses, monthly reports, and governmental requests for information
  • Maintains working knowledge and understanding of federal and state alcoholic beverage labeling and brand registration requirements
  • Reviews product labels, graphics, and trade materials routinely to identify potential issues and ensure broad compliance with TTB and/or FDA labeling requirements (e.g., health warnings, ingredient listings, statements of composition, nutrition facts, etc.) and advertising standards
  • Maintains working knowledge and understanding of federal and state trade practice laws and regulations, and provides trade practice guidance to sales and marketing colleagues upon request
  • Communicates and coordinates with colleagues across functions within the Company, including those in New York, California, and Belgium
  • Ensures timely, quality submission of all regulatory filings, and maintains filing tracking systems
  • Organizes and maintains accurate recordkeeping of all regulatory filings and related correspondence
  • Adheres to all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and rules relating to the manufacture and sale of alcoholic beverages
  • Proactively stays up-to-date on industry trends and regulatory changes that may impact the Company
  • Performs other regulatory, compliance, or governmental liaison duties upon request


KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies
  • 3+ years of experience in legal, compliance or regulatory affairs, or equivalent experience (experience in a regulated industry preferred; experience in alcohol beverage industry highly preferred)
  • Exceptional organizational and task management skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders
